Stihl Warranty is worthless - Hope your chainsaw does not break
The pull back handle to engage the clutch on my MS170 broke while still under warranty. Stihl and the dealer Finch Services would only cover the handle and soak me for the labor to repair this which is more than a new chain saw would cost.
When I asked for the part to repair this myself they would not give it to me as their warranty requires any warranty part to be installed by an authorized repair shop. They also will not sell the repair part unless the dealrer installs it. Thus getting a Stihl chainsaw repaired is hopeless unless you pay their excessive fees.
They will not support us do it yourselfers so I think they should be boycotted and put out of business. I will not buy another Stihl product.
Reason of review: Warranty issue.
Monetary Loss: $180.
Stihl Cons: Access to replacement parts.
Location: Eldersburg, Maryland

Thought of buying this saw, but not any more.. Thank you for the report.
Yea my stihl quit on the 361st day after purchase. Piston shot, rings gone.
Told me bad Gas mix is standard answer stihl uses. I have gallon Gas can , use their oil ,bought chain oil and 2 cycle oil week after chain saw purchase and this is their response. With 2 year warranty I would have been 10 fold pissed. Stihl sucks.
Going to 149 dollar Poulan farm fleet. American made , now go figure!!!
