Purchased a string trimmer 1 year ago with extended warranty. Spring broke in pull starter and carbureator had to be rebulit.

The repair center claimed it was the ethonel gas, but I have 3 other 2 cycle engines that have never failed. Parkrose Hardware charged $90. to fix my one year old trimmer that should be warranty. I have never had such a low quality product.

My last Ryobi trimmer lasted 11 years before it failed. I should have repaired it.

My next trimmer or any other outdoor product will NEVER be a Stihl. Thank goodness this is the only Stihl product I have!

Stihl does not honor warranty. The dealers are trained to deny warranty.

I picked the B&D 36 volt, because based on my experience with cordless power tools, I know even 24 volt lithium can be marginal for medium to heavy-duty tasks. The B&D LSD136 also comes with a 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee and 3 Year Full Warranty, which minimizes the risk.

While I understand your frustration with the warranty issue, I have to say your old Ryobi is/was a better machine than anything Ryobi makes today. I work on their equip. everyday, and end up telling people that they should consider buying Stihl, Tanaka or Echo. (Tanaka's have a 7 year home owner warranty)

When a dealer tells you that it's the ethanol, they are really saying "It's not that great of a machine". Today's engines are designed to run on up to %15 ethanol.

However, these little engines have very small carburetors and require fresh gas... Not 6 week old gas, not 3 month old gas with Stabil... Fresh gas. Additionally, if the machine is going to sit for weeks or months, get the gas out of it, put a few cap fulls of SeaFoam in the tank, hit the primer and pull the rope several times. This will ensure there is no gas in the carb and keeps the seals, diaphragms, etc. from drying up.

Needed a *** wacker for the drainage ditch in the back yard.

I am going through a similar event!! Stihl dealer told me my carb had to be replaced in a 10 month old G55 blower, which was used less than 6 times.

Blower was winterized and I used it three months ago with fresh fuel. I put STABL in my fuel. Now STIHL says tough, not covered under warranty!!

I have a STIHL chainsaw three years old and have had no problems using the same fuel!! I am going to press this until they resolve it :( :( :(

This product is surprisingly powerful. It is easy to use.

I have a small yard, but it handled the work, and I did not have to charge it for two cuttings. It is lightweight, and the battery is easy machine to snap in and out.
