Resolved: Stihl BG86Z handheld blower failed after a year & a half
I was contacted by Stihl's area representative and they are covering the needed repairs, THANKS!
I'm new to this site so I apologize if I have commented where I should not. I just found this update box.
I purchased my new Stihl BG86Z handheld blower new in July 2013. It ran great until Nov.
2014. No amount of carburetor adjustment made a difference. Even though the manual says you can run up to 10% ethanol infused gasoline, I did not. I was running VP small engine fuel with Stihl HP Ultra oil.
Using this oil was said to double the 2 year warranty to 4 years. Out of the blue my blower started to sound like it was fouling a spark plug. I checked it, it looked fine, but I replaced it and saw no improvement. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it and for over half of what I paid for it, it now has a new carb.
They say Stihl will not honor warranty on carbs.
I will not buy another Stihl product. I am telling my dealer I will not visit their store again as long as they are a Stihl dealer.
Reason of review: Damaged or defective.
Stihl Pros: Power when it works.
Stihl Cons: Price nor customer service.
Location: Alabaster, Alabama

Same thing happened with my B55 leaf blower! Used all Stihl oil and non-ethanol gas from Southern States in Va.! Disappointed!
Stihl did the right thing. I had emailed customer service 2 or more weeks ago but they responded to one I sent today.
They are covering the needed work under warranty. Hooray for a good company!
